Updated 22 October 2026 · Applies to freesoundrecorder.net
This notice supplements the existing Privacy Policy for website analytics. It updates earlier statements about analytics where necessary; software and installation notices remain separate.
You decide whether analytics runs
Optional analytics is off until you choose Allow analytics. Reject analytics is equally available. The new analytics loader does not load Google's measurement tag or send analytics events before that choice. Rejecting does not restrict browsing, free software downloads or support.
Use the persistent Privacy settings control to change your decision. We remember an explicit Allow or Reject choice in this browser's local storage for up to 180 days; a new policy version or expiry asks again. A Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal keeps this measurement disabled.
What we measure after you allow
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand visits to public pages and clicks on software download links. A download click is not proof of a completed download or installation. We send an approved public page path, a static site name, the referring website's public origin, and the selected public software/file and download path. We remove URL queries and fragments and do not intentionally include email addresses, form contents or your documents, recordings and other software files.
Google's tag also handles technical browser/device information, first-party measurement identifiers and normal request metadata. Google may use an IP address to derive approximate location; we do not describe this as anonymous data. Google's Analytics safeguards and privacy information explain its processing. Google signals, advertising storage and advertising personalization are not enabled by this measurement setup.
Cookies and browser storage
After Allow, GA4 can set _ga and _ga_* first-party cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions. Google's default lifetime is up to two years and can refresh on later visits; browser restrictions or later settings can shorten it. Your analytics choice is stored separately under site-analytics-consent-v1:freesoundrecorder.net, with the policy version and expiry.
Rejecting later stops further events from this loader and clears the measurement cookies it manages. It does not retrospectively erase data already sent to Google. You can also clear this site's cookies/local storage or use browser privacy controls. Google processes Analytics data under its service terms and privacy policies, potentially outside your country.
Website operation is separate
Hosting requests still involve technical data needed to deliver pages and software, such as IP address, requested URL, browser details and request time. Server operational logs and any information you deliberately send to support are separate from this optional GA4 choice.
