Choose the sources
Play a short sample and check the device carrying it. Select that playback device in the recording bar. Add one or more available microphone or line inputs if you want them in the same recording.
Leave unused sources unchecked. Set input gain and check the levels before you begin.
Record and stop
Press Record, use Pause and Resume if needed, and press Stop when the take is complete. The optional 3-2-1 count-in gives you time to get ready.
Each selected source becomes its own track in the editor. Listen to the result before deleting or replacing any original files.
Edit and save
Trim the take and balance track volumes. Mute a source you do not want in the mix, or Solo a track to check it on its own.
Export MP3, WAV or FLAC for a finished mixed file. Save an .amss session to keep the tracks editable. For a microphone-only take without installing the Windows app, try the online voice recorder.
